This was one fantastic wedding celebration to be a part of.  As Rubi and Matt live in Chicago, I did most of the planning with Rubi’s father.  This wedding went on for a couple days and the final day was quite the marathon of events and logistics. This wedding celebration was extra special because it was a fusion of two families and their cultures coming together.  So we did all of the traditional Indian ceremonies as well as the traditional Western ceremony and festivities that surround both.  Serious kudos and respect to Rubi and Matt for doing so well even though they must have been exhausted by the end of the final day.

The final day consisted of a call time of 4am for hair and make up. 3 hair/make up/wardrobe changes continued throughout the day. From there the Barat Ceremony (on the horse), garland exchange, ribbon cutting ceremony, breakfast for the guests followed by the traditional Indian ceremony.  Thank you to the city of Bellevue for allowing me to final permits to march Matt (on the horse) and his entourage down NE 8th Ave. :) After this ceremony we escorted everyone to lunch. After lunch we had to completely flip the ballroom from the morning festivities to the dinner reception space.  This was no easy task considering all of the walls had to be draped and the guest list was well..large. All while this was happening, I was coordinating the send off ceremony. From there Rubi & Matt got dressed for the Western Ceremony that was set up in the Hyatt Courtyard. (Thank you for not raining that day!) After the Western Ceremony, another wardrobe change, cocktail hour and then the formal dinner celebration and dancing that consisted of all the guests who attended the Indian ceremonies and Western Ceremony.  A fantastic mix of Western & Indian music and dancing was put on by the awesome, Austin Beaver.

I was personally on site coordinating for 22 hours on that final day and I couldn’t be more thankful for my assistants (that came in shifts) to help coordinate all of this and for the many coffee runs!
